Make This Shortcut for Your iPhone Downloads

After a long decade, the iPhone finally added a downloader to Safariwith iOS 13so you can download files and automatically store themon your iPhonein a Downloads folder.But where exactlyisthe downloads folder? How do you actuallyaccess thefiles that you downloadedfrom Safari?

Well, they’re not in Safari. They’re in this other app called Files, and you can find it by goingtoFiles>Browse>iCloud Drive>Downloads. But instead of taking four steps, you shoulduse theShortcuts app to create an automation thatopens yourDownloads folder (orany folder that you need, for that matter). Add thatshortcut to the home screen and you’ll haveyour own dedicated Downloads app.

To get started, open the Shortcuts app, tapPlusfrom the top right, and tapAdd Actionin the shortcut editor. Here, add the “Folder” action from the Files app. Tap the empty “Folder” icon in the shortcut, navigate to the “Downloads” folder, and tapOpen.”That’ll makethe Downloads folderthe target for yourshortcut. To open thatfolder easily, search for and add the “Open File” shortcut. When it’s added, it’ll自动从之前的文件夹step as the input—but make sure to tap the “Default App” button and choose the “Files” app.

Then justtap the shortcut title at the top, give it a name like “Downloads,” and tapAdd to Home Screen.”You can add a special icon thereif you want, then justtapAddto add it to yourhome screen. When you tap your new makeshiftDownloads” app, it will take you directly to the Downloads folder in youriCloud Drive (or local storage, depending on your settings).
